Bitcoin (BTC): $65,000 Resistance Keeps Bulls Under Pressure

By Saqib Iqbal2 min read
  • Bitcoin is testing $65,000: BTC reached around $65,363 intraday before slipping back toward the $65,000 area.
  • ETF demand is improving: Spot Bitcoin ETFs have recorded roughly $853.5 million of combined inflows over five sessions.
  • $65,000 remains decisive: A sustained breakout could improve the recovery structure, while rejection keeps downside risks alive.

Bitcoin Fundamental Analysis

Bitcoin enters Monday's session at a critical point after spending roughly a week consolidating around the $65,000 region. BTC briefly moved above that level during today's trading, reaching an intraday high near $65,363, but the market has struggled to establish a sustained breakout above the area.

The improving institutional flow picture provides an important bullish counterweight. Spot Bitcoin ETFs have reportedly attracted approximately $853.5 million in net inflows across five consecutive sessions, with BlackRock's IBIT among the leading contributors. That suggests institutional demand is returning even though price momentum remains relatively subdued.

Corporate treasury activity is more mixed. H100 Group announced today that it acquired 2,455.37 BTC, lifting its Bitcoin treasury to 3,506 BTC. At the same time, Strategy sold 1,690 BTC between August 3 and August 9 for approximately $108.6 million. The contrast highlights an important feature of the current market: some corporate buyers continue accumulating while others are raising liquidity or reducing exposure.

Bitcoin's macro backdrop has also improved slightly following weaker U.S. employment data. Expectations for Federal Reserve policy have shifted, potentially reducing pressure from U.S. yields and the dollar. However, Wednesday's U.S. CPI report could quickly change that dynamic.

The fundamental picture is therefore improving but not decisively bullish. ETF inflows and corporate accumulation provide demand, while Bitcoin's inability to convincingly clear $65,000 shows that sellers remain active at higher levels.

Technically, $65,000 is the central battleground. Bitcoin has repeatedly tested this area without producing a convincing daily breakout. Today's rejection from approximately $65,363 reinforces the importance of the supply zone around $65,000–$65,800.

A sustained daily close above $65,800 would provide stronger confirmation that buyers are gaining control. The next upside objective would then come from the $67,000–$68,000 region, where traders could encounter another round of profit-taking.

On the downside, Bitcoin needs to maintain the recent consolidation floor around $63,500–$64,000. Losing that region would weaken the recovery structure and potentially send BTC back toward the $60,000–$61,000 demand area.

Momentum is currently mixed rather than decisively bullish. Bitcoin is attempting to build a base above $64,000, but repeated failures around $65,000 mean traders should treat the current move as a breakout attempt rather than an established trend.

For now, the fundamental backdrop favors patience: institutional flows are encouraging, but price needs to confirm that demand by breaking the $65,000–$65,800 resistance zone.
