WTI crude oil price today
WTI crude oil fell to $77.10 on Friday, down 1.43% on the day, as prices extended a steady slide that ran through most of the session. The contract opened near Thursday's close of $78.22 and climbed briefly to a session high above $78.60 in the morning before turning decisively lower.

The decline picked up pace after the late-morning high, with prices moving lower in a series of steps through the afternoon rather than a single sharp drop. By the close, WTI had given back the entirety of its earlier gains and then some, settling near the day's low around $77.10 to $77.14.
The session's reversal leaves $77 as the immediate level to watch heading into the next session; a break below it would open the door to a retest of levels not seen in recent weeks. On the upside, a recovery back above $78 would suggest Friday's slide was an overreaction rather than the start of a deeper move lower.
The one-directional nature of the afternoon decline, with prices grinding lower for hours without a meaningful bounce, suggests sustained selling pressure rather than a reaction to a single headline. With the weekend ahead and no major scheduled catalysts in the immediate term, traders will likely watch whether the $77 level holds or gives way to further downside when trading resumes.
