EUR/USD traded at 1.1414 at 09:06 UTC on July 23 before the European Central Bank’s scheduled policy decision. The pair is firm, but still below the 1.1480–1.1500 area that has repeatedly separated short-lived rebounds from a broader recovery.
Why it matters
The ECB raised all three key rates by 25 basis points on June 11, taking the deposit facility to 2.25%, the main refinancing rate to 2.40% and the marginal lending rate to 2.65%. Its official statement cited Middle East-driven inflation pressure. With oil now higher again, today’s decision must balance inflation risk against weaker growth.

Decision scenarios
Hold with balanced guidance: likely keeps EUR/USD between 1.1350 and 1.1480.
Hawkish hold: concern about energy inflation and another possible hike could push the pair through 1.1480 toward 1.1580.
Dovish surprise: stronger growth concern or a softer inflation view would expose 1.1350, then 1.1250.
TradingView opinions remain split. Recent contributors describe 1.1300–1.1350 as weekly support, while bearish ideas focus on rejection around 1.1480. Those levels are useful context, not evidence of what the ECB will do.
BeCoin forecast read
BeCoin’s base case before the statement is neutral inside 1.1350–1.1480. The first trustworthy signal is not the headline rate alone but the combination of the decision, inflation language and guidance. A sustained close above 1.1480 confirms the bullish path; a break below 1.1350 invalidates it.
