Fundamental Analysis: Polkadot
The most concrete recent development was a negative one. On 7 August 2026 one of the largest US digital-asset managers withdrew its spot Polkadot ETF application, filed alongside withdrawals for two other networks in a matter of minutes. DOT fell close to 2% to $0.805 on the day. The stated reason was simply that the distributions would not proceed, which market participants read as a verdict on how much institutional demand a Polkadot product would actually attract.
The counterweight sits in the protocol roadmap rather than the regulatory one. The Join-Accumulate Machine rework remains the network's central technical bet, aimed at replacing the parachain model with a more general compute layer, and the tokenomics changes debated over the past year were intended to bring supply growth under control. Neither has a confirmed delivery date, which is precisely the difficulty: the bull case depends on a calendar that has not been published.
The balance is a token trading on beta rather than on its own narrative. With no dated catalyst ahead, DOT is likely to track the wider digital-asset tape, amplifying it in both directions given the thinner liquidity. A recovery of this speed off a low tells you more about market-wide risk appetite than about anything specific to Polkadot.
Technical Analysis: Polkadot

The decline ran from roughly 0.8550 on 6 August down to 0.7250 by 18 August, a slide of about 15% that took price well beneath every moving average. The reversal from that low has been just as sharp, clearing the whole average cluster and reaching 0.85181 before the current pause. Those averages now sit below price at 0.8052, 0.8004, 0.7882 and 0.7854, still compressed from the downtrend.
Resistance is the 0.85181 session high, then the 0.8600 area that capped price in early August. Support is the 0.8052 to 0.8004 pair, then the 0.7854 average beneath. A four-hour close below 0.7854 would put the rebound back inside the decline and re-expose the 0.7250 low.
