Fundamental Analysis: Ethereum
The flow picture turned decisively in the third week of August. US spot ether products drew $697.2 million of net inflows in the week to 21 August, and together with bitcoin funds at $1.918 billion the two groups took $2.6 billion, their strongest week of 2026 and the best for the pair in roughly ten months. That is the kind of concentrated, one-directional demand that moves a market which had spent a fortnight going nowhere.
The counterweight is that the network's own risks have not gone quiet. A governance attack on a lending protocol drained 2,843 ETH and 1.68 million USDC from its vaults this month, after an attacker took majority control of the protocol's governance token, a reminder that thinly distributed governance remains a live structural weakness across the ecosystem. Development attention, meanwhile, is on the Glamsterdam upgrade, which raises the gas limit toward 200 million and enables parallel transaction processing.
The balance leaves a market driven by external allocation rather than internal usage. That is a legitimate reason for price to rise, but it makes the advance only as durable as the flows behind it, and flow-led moves reverse faster than usage-led ones.
Technical Analysis: Ethereum

The 4-hour chart is unusually stark. From 7 to 19 August price traded in a near-flat band between 1,860 and 1,900 with the averages compressed on top of one another. The 19 August session broke it with a single vertical candle, and the advance has continued in steps to a high of 2,534. The averages now fan out beneath price at 2,435.88, 2,291.73, 2,150.63 and 2,030.14.
Resistance is the 2,534 high, then the 2,600 round number. Support is 2,435.88, then 2,291.73. A close beneath 2,291.73 would break the fan structure and invalidate the breakout, putting the old 1,900 base back in play.
