Bitcoin pushed to $66,600 on Tuesday, up about 2% on the day and roughly 6% above where it broke out of its multi-week box in mid-July. The move turns last week's ceiling into this week's floor: the $65.7K band that capped price on July 21 is now the level bulls are defending.
Why it matters. A breakout only earns trust once the retest holds, and BTC is passing that test in real time. On July 21 the tape printed a lower high into $65.7K and the bears argued the breakout was hollow; two sessions later price is above it, not below. That is the difference between a genuine trend leg and a liquidity grab. With risk appetite firming across equities — the Nasdaq 100 ripped nearly 2% the same day — crypto is riding the same macro tailwind rather than fighting it.
Technical analysis
Support is now stacked and clear: the $65.7K band is first defense, with the old box top at $63.5K the line that keeps the entire breakout valid on a daily-close basis. Overhead, the next magnet is the $68K supply shelf, and above it the round $70K — untouched since February — is the target the momentum crowd is chasing. Momentum supports the move but is no longer cheap: the daily RSI is pushing toward overbought, which historically precedes a sideways pause rather than an immediate reversal. A daily close back under $65.7K would put $63.5K in play and reopen the "failed breakout" debate.
BeCoin's forecast read. The model keeps its weekly path bullish while BTC holds above $65.7K — the same trigger it flagged when it turned constructive on the confirmed close above $63.5K last week. Its 24-hour view is consolidation with an upward skew: a shallow dip that holds the band is the higher-probability path than an immediate vertical run at $70K. The invalidation is unchanged and clean — a daily close below $63.5K reverts the model to range logic. For a level-by-level read across six horizons, see BeCoin's Bitcoin AI forecast.
